Best Tuna Casserole
This is what we think is the
best tuna
casserole. It is simple, quick and the kids love it. So if you are
looking for directions on how to make tuna casserole here is your
recipe and check out a healthy version also.
Tuna Casserole Recipes
8 oz. noodles
of choice-we like seashells
1 can healthy request cream
mushroom soup
1/2 cup plain yogurt
2 Tablespoons-4 oz. cream cheese
2 cans tuna or less if you desire
1
small pkg. frozen peas
Pepper
Cook
noodles, drain and place
in baking dish. Sprinkle top of noodles with peas. The hot noodles will
unthaw the peas quickly but you can add the peas several minutes before
the noodles are done cooking and drain peas and noodles together. In
mixing bowl, add cream of mushroom soup, yogurt, cream cheese and tuna.
Stir until well
blended. Season with pepper and stir into noodles. Serve
immediately.
Healthy Tuna Casserole
If you want a healthy version of tuna casserole,
omit the
cream of mushroom soup and add the following:
1 Cup cottage
cheese
1/4 Cup low fat mayonnaise
1 Tablespoon Worcestershire
sauce
Mix these three ingredients and stir into cooked noodles. If
your kids are like mine and they don't like the cottage cheese curds
puree in blender before adding to the noodles.
Also
for a healthy version of tuna casserole use whole wheat penne or
other shape noodles.
Variations on the Tuna Casserole
Tuna Pasta
Spoon or two of mayo
Half tin tuna
Small handful of sweet corn
Some peppers
All mixed with cooked pasta!!
