How To Make French Fries

Once you learn how to make french fries, you will love them more than fast food and they will be better for you. You can season with seasoning salt, kosher salt or any seasoning you'd like to try. First we'll tell you how to cook them in a deep fryer and second baked in the oven.

Homemade French Fries

Peel and cut potatoes into long strips. You can buy a fry cutter to make this job easier. I usually cut one medium potato per person. Heat deep fryer or a large pot of oil to 375 degrees, a thermometer will help this process.

Pat dry with a paper towel.

When oil is heated place fries in a cooker about 5 minutes. Don't overload the oil, you'll have to do this in batches.

Take fries out with metal slotted spoon or drain rack. Place on a cookie sheet or plate lined with fresh paper towels. Allow to cool while you finish the remaining fries.

When you've done all the potato fries, you will fry a 2nd time until they are golden brown. Place on clean paper towels and season with salt or seasoning salt.
